Background & Bio
John is a Senior Adjuster whose educational background and career of maritime experience have been a great benefit to his clients. John sailed commercially as Relief Master, Chief Mate and/or Second Mate on a variety of vessels including Ro-Ro, dry cargo, and tank vessels and currently holds a USCG Unlimited Master’s license (for continuity only). John also spent three years active duty in the US Navy as a surface warfare officer-- primarily as an engineering officer—including planning dry dockings in both a graving dock and floating dry dock. Immediately before joining Aasgard Summit, John was a vice president at Hudson Analytix/Hudson Marine where his experience included on-scene oil spill and major incident response. Before working with Hudson, John was an attorney for Keesal, Young and Logan (Seattle) and prior to that with Lindsay, Hart Neil and Weigler (Portland). He has worked on and investigated many types of claims including crew personal injury, collisions, groundings, heavy weather damage, cargo contamination, longshoreman injuries and passenger injuries. John also has worked extensively with ship owner clients to help ensure compliance with US statutes and regulations, in the context of post-casualty or post-incident analysis as well as every-day consultations.
In his free time, you will likely find John sailing on the beautiful Puget Sound.Return to Profiles
